About
After taking a 20+ year hiatus from painting, a late night bout of insomnia led me to discover Bob Ross's Joy of Painting. I had just taken early retirement and had already decided to take up painting again. But I had no direction, and not much encouragement. Bob's free videos have helped me have quick success, but more importantly I discovered I really love the wet on wet technique. I am currently self-teaching and working on expanding my painting skills.
Bio
I completed a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in Saint Louis back in 1990, but I was unfulfilled and took several art classes at St Louis Community College. After a couple years of classes, I returned to college to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Back in 1992, I joined the Missouri Army National Guard where I did drafting and surveying as an Engineering Assistant. After 6 years, I was able to transfer to Air Guard and completed 15 years with them - enabling me to get a pension.
In the civilian government world I worked first as a software engineer / programmer and then as a program manager. I was able to take an early retirement from the federal government to have more time for my family, to fix up my houses, and to start painting again.
In addition to my careers, I am raising twin boys, live in Jefferson County Missouri, and am fixing up a lake house on Lake Wauwanoka in Hillsboro Missouri. What I love most about retirement: a bad day painting on the lake is still better than a good day in the office!
